چکیده

By any number of standards, the :1986-87 academic year was a year of success for Penn: Ourfaculty continued to earn wide national and international acclaim for teaching and research efforts of its members-including eight Guggenheim Fellowships, one MacArthur Fellowship, two Fulbright Scholarships, and three new Penn memberships in the National Academy of Science; " We made an unprecedented leap in strengthening our position as an undergraduate school offirst choice; " We demonstrated new vigor in our ability to attract alumni, government, and corporate support to meet the University's needs; " We moved forward with the strategic planning necessary to continue building our momentum; and, " We broadened, in many creative ways, the involvement of our students, faculty, and staff in the community in which we learn, live, and work.
